It’s almost time to start the season!!! With it being mid May, our Tball players will be getting their calls from their coaches and we are scheduled to start the baseball & softball season THIS Saturday. With opening day on the horizon, we have a few reminders:

Parking Rules

Be mindful when choosing a parking spot - It’s great that our BYS players have so much support for their games, but please be mindful when parking in our lots. We had episodes in the past where cars triple parked in the lot and blocked cars in. That situation was extremely inconvenient for families that were blocked in to the parking lot and could not leave. In addition, there is no parking in the grass along the entrance to Mooney. Parking along that edge causes a very narrow entrance. We need to leave room for emergency vehicles should they need to be called and we don’t want to see fender benders at our parks. As the grass dries out, there is additional parking at Huntington school. You can walk across the grass through the path right into Mooney. We also realize that the gravel lot at Mooney is not optimal for parking situations. The parking lot is not a situation that BYS can fix as it is a city park. We are always welcome to suggestions that we can pass onto our city officials – but for the season – be nice to our other BYS families and be mindful where you park.

The entrance to Mooney is ONE WAY. Please do not go out the entrance OR go IN the exit near Corwin field in the back. The driveways are narrow and we don’t want to see anyone get into an accident. In all cases, be slow in all of our lots. We have a lot of youngsters watching their siblings or playing Tball this season. So, make sure you keep an eye out and drive cautiously through the lots.

In addition, with the increased traffic, the Brunswick Police Department will be making rounds through the parks. Citations will be given to cars not following the traffic patterns or parking incorrectly.

Dogs are not allowed at the ball fields.

There are NO dogs allowed at our ball fields – As much as we love our furry family members, our baseball fields are extremely busy and temperatures are going to rise. It is a CITY rule that dogs are not allowed at any city parks EXCEPT for the city dog park. This also applies to the school fields that we have use of this season (Huntington, Applewood, Willetts & Brunswick High School). Our service dogs are always welcome, but they need to be wearing their certification vests, etc. so that they can be identified.

NO smoking at the ball fields

Smoking (which also includes vaping) is also not permitted at our ballparks.

Patience Please – We have new employees.

You will see some familiar faces in our student employees this summer, but you will also see some new faces in our field crew, concession stand and our umpires. Please remember that in some cases, this is their first job and it’s a new experience. Constructive feedback can be provided to a Board member through email or even a Facebook message, but we won’t tolerate belittling or screaming at the kids; especially our young umpires. Before a comment is made in the stands, remember that the umpire’s parent could be sitting next to you and the kids can hear you. They could use our support in order to be successful in what is a really hard job.

Thank You – It’s been a long year of planning.

From our youngest Tball player to our oldest baseball player to our travel program, we have over 1500 players in our program. It takes a lot of time outside of the season to get us here and we don’t have paid Board members. Actually, some of the members don’t even have kids in the program any longer but are dedicated to this program and the community. So, please remember that these are all volunteers (including your coaches) running this program and they have jobs and families. We will do our best to get to your emails and messages as the season continues. You can always reach us through a message on Facebook or an email to your league commissioner with questions or concerns. But with a little patience and a lot of working together, we can bring the best environment to our youngest of players. Let’s Play Ball!
